The Columbus Bus Route will be going back to the big bus starting this afternoon. On Monday, Mr. Argosino will be picking up all students on the route at the earlier time.

Cold days got nothing on us! The 5th and 6th graders delivered hot cocoa to the entire school today as part of our December Christmas calendar. It was tasty! 

Burke Central will have a virtual day today. Weather and road reports are looking too poor to safely put students and staff on the roads.

Burke Central will start two hours late today due to icy road conditions. Breakfast will not be served. We will let you know as soon as possible if anything changes.

There will be no sports transportation provided by the school today.

Get ready to have some fun with us in December!

Postponed: the 3rd and 4th Grade Thanksgiving Feast is postponed to December 2 @ 11 a.m. in the Lignite Community Center. Due to the impending weather conditions, we have changed the date. Please bring your items on December 2 and not tomorrow.

Please help us fill up our Wall of Honor! Stars may be picked up in the front office. You can also email or message a teacher to send them with your child. Community members are also welcome to come to the school and get stars to add to our supply.

In honor of Veterans’ Day, we are creating a display in honor of our veterans. Please fill out a star with the following information:
Line 1: Veteran’s Name: Chester Gibbs
Line2: Military Branch: Army
Line 3: Relationship to the Student: Father of Paula Snell
You can complete as many stars as you want. Please return all the stars by November 12. If you want to include a small photo or any additional information on the star, you may do that.

Congratulations to Brixleigh Pitman our Elementary Choir Student of the Month!

Brixleigh is a vibrant and passionate 5th grader whose love for singing shines through in everything she does. From her earliest years in elementary school, she has never missed a chance to sing her heart out—whether it’s during recess, on the school bus, or at home. Her dedication to her craft is truly admirable, and it shows every time she performs, both as a soloist and with her choir.

DATE CHANGE: Our student of the month celebration is changed to October 22 @ 2:45 p.m. due to a conflict. Changed from Tuesday, October 21 to Wednesday, October 22.

Sienna and Evelyn have demonstrated outstanding dedication and a positive attitude in band class. Not only did they lead in practice hours on their band practice reports, but they also managed to balance their academic and extracurricular commitments while continuing to prioritize their musical growth.

Congratulations to these students on their successful Northwest Music Festival auditions!

Northwest Music Festival is a gathering at Minot State University of some of the finest junior high and high school musicians from all over the state. These students worked hard to practice their audition piece to earn a spot at the festival. They will undergo two days of music-making along with the other participants and culminate a concert on November 8, 2025

Last Saturday, selected music students went to Minot North High School for "Surround the state in Song" a music festival that happened simultaneously across the state.

Our students had the amazing opportunity to sing their hearts out along with other chosen kids from different schools. They spent the entire day refining the songs that they practiced and end it with an awesome concert in the afternoon.

It was truly a fun and unforgettable experience for the kids, Congratulations!
